IB Taking a Break

Wishing all readers a blessed Easter

On the eve of the Easter weekend most of us are looking forward to the first real breather it offers after the rush and pressure to get the new year running smoothly. This year it has a special meaning for South Africans.

As reflected in this edition of The Intelligence Bulletin, South Africa is facing a crucial time in the history of its young democracy – a time of choosing between the proverbial high road and the low road.

Concerning politics, the economy and social stability, it has been a dramatic year to date. There is the distinct feeling that the country is standing at a crossroads in a number of respects. It is, therefore, also a time of high tension.

Taking a break

Not only psychologically, but also in terms of energy preservation it is important that one uses the opportunity offered by occasions like Easter to charge the batteries for the challenges which lie ahead for the rest of the year.

Here at The Intelligence Bulletin we are planning to do just that. Since this is a week with only three working days, there will not be an Intelligence Bulletin next week.

However, we will keep on monitoring the news, if something happens between now and our next planned edition on 5 April that compels us to provide some perspective, we will not let you down and will deliver a special edition.

Real meaning of Easter

It is, for us, also important to remember the fundamental reason why we have Easter.
It developed as a festival and is linked to the celebration of Passover, or Pesach in Hebrew, commemorating the Exodus, when the Children of Israel escaped from their slavery in Egypt. It is also the oldest festival of the Christian Church and is a symbol of eternal hope.

We wish our readers a wonderful time with family and friends and, above all, a blessed Easter.
